Bernburg (Saale) is the district town of the Salzlandkreis in the middle of Saxony-Anhalt. Bernburg is located on the Saale about 40 kilometers south of Magdeburg and 35 kilometers north of Halle (Saale). Bernburg is historically part of Anhalt and was the residential town of the Ascanian branch line Anhalt-Bernburg.
