Wachenheim an der Weinstraße, formerly Wachenheim an der Haardt, is a small town on the middle Haardt in the Bad Dürkheim district in Rhineland-Palatinate, within which it is the fifth largest local community in terms of population. It is best known for various companies in the wine-growing industry. Wachenheim is a state-recognized resort and designated as a basic center according to state planning. The city is the administrative seat of the Verbandsgemeinde of Wachenheim an der Weinstrasse, of which it is also a member.

Viticulture The place is characterized by viticulture and tourism. In terms of area, with 477 hectares of vineyards, it is one of the largest wine-growing communities in the Palatinate. Within the city limits is the large Schenkenböhl site and the individual sites Wachenheimer Altenburg (10.0 ha), Wachenheimer Belz (1.0 ha), Bischofsgarten (111.4 ha), Wachenheimer Böhlig (6.1 ha), Fuchsmantel (17.9 ha), Gerümpel (13.4 ha), Wachenheimer Goldbächel (5.4 ha), Königswingert (101.7 ha), Luginsland (30.0 ha), Mandelgarten (263.0 ha), Odinsthal (16.2 ha), Wachenheimer Rechbächel (3.1 ha) and Schloßberg (21.7 ha). The town's biggest event, the Castle and Wine Festival, takes place in June. Forestry As part of the Haingeraide, Wachenheim received the so-called fourth Haardtgeraide, which was dissolved in the early modern period and was therefore subordinated to the city. The Wachheimer Forest now covers around 428 hectares. It is managed by the Mittelhaardt Forest Association in the Wallberg forest district.
