Vaihingen an der Enz, Stadt

Vaihingen an der Enz [ˈfaɪ̯ɪŋən] is a town in Baden-Württemberg, located about 24 kilometers northwest of Stuttgart and 20 kilometers east of Pforzheim, on the Enz. It belongs to the Stuttgart region and the European metropolitan region of Stuttgart. The city forms a middle center for the surrounding communities. Vaihingen an der Enz has been a major district town since January 1, 1973.

The Jung candy factory, which was founded in the city center in 1828, is one of the oldest candy factories in Germany, moved into the new building in Kleinglattbach in the 1980s, and in 1999 set up the factory outlet and the candy museum in another new building near the old Vaihingen/Enz Nord train station (in the Kleinglattbach district). Fakir Hausgeräte and the stamping shop Dr. Karl Bausch GmbH & Co. produces in Vaihingen. Until 1973, Vaihingen was the headquarters of the Kreissparkasse Vaihingen, which was merged with the Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg in connection with the district reform in 1973. The Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg operates nine branches in the city. In 2013, Vaihingen was the headquarters of a regional headquarters with 18 branches and four self-service branches as well as a commercial customer center. After restructuring, there were still four branches and self-service branches of the Kreissparkasse in Vaihingen in 2021. In October 2012, Vaihingen was awarded the Fair Trade seal (see Fair Trade City).
